In 1897, after a visit by Dr. Sousa Martins who considered the place suitable for the treatment of pulmonary diseases, through open-air cure, work began on the construction of the Grande Hotel dos Hermínios, in a place called Nave da Areia, at an altitude of about 1500 meters. Thus was born the place today called Penhas da Saúde, where the chalet "Cota 1500" is located

Penhas da Saúde is the highest urban settlement in Portugal, sheltered by mountainous elevations, which provide the necessary protection from the prevailing winds and with a magnificent sun exposure, is the ideal place to enjoy fresh air, contact with nature and in winter enjoy the natural wonder that only Serra da Estrela can provide

Wood is the main element in the construction of "Cota 1500", providing a different experience, in a cozy environment that children and adults love.

The chalet "Cota 1500", properly equipped, has capacity for six or more people in a Local Lodging regime. It has a heating system, which associated with the thermal characteristics of wood, allows for an extremely comfortable environment, even when it snows and temperatures are negative outside.

In the heart of Serra da Estrela Natural Park, it is a few kilometers away from Covilhã, Belmonte, Manteigas and Seia, where you can visit its museums and local gastronomy.
